Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the safest and fastest way to stop my skin reaction to the treatment?

A. Stop using the renewing agents and use the reversing agents, Calming Complex and Action, twice daily. The reaction should disappear in two days.

Q. Can I wax while on the cream program?

A. Yes, but stop using the mixture of Retin-A and Activia 3-4 days before waxing. It is better to use cold wax than hot wax.

Q. The corners of my mouth and eyes feel dry and are cracking. How do I prevent that?

A. Apply either the Calming Complex or Activia to those areas prior to the application of the corrective creams, or simply skip the corrective creams in those areas for a day or two.

Q. Can I apply make-up while using the creams?

A. Yes, but select water-based make-up that is easy to remove. Apply the sealer to your face prior to the make-up for a smoother surface and better appearance.

Q. Can I continue to use the creams Indefinitely, or should I stop after a period of time?

A. You can use the creams indefinitely. Like any other exercise program, the cream program will keep your skin healthy, firm, and younger-looking. The maintenance program combined with one or two superficial peels a year will significantly delay the aging of the skin.

Q. Do I have to avoid the sun?

A. If you apply the recommended sunscreen, you can participate in normal outdoor activity. We do suggest avoiding prolonged sun exposure, especially during the first six weeks of your treatment. Keep in mind that any sun exposure is bad for your skin.

Q. Might I be allergic to the creams?

A. Allergic reactions are possible, but rare. Do not mistake the normal reactions to treatment, such as redness, itching, and exfoliation, for allergy. Allergic reactions are characterized by swelling, severe itching, and redness, and will spread to areas not being treated. When in doubt, consult the clinic immediately.

Q. Can I use some of the other cosmetics I have already at home with the SkinUSA products?

A. It is not a good idea. The base in the other products may have different acidity or may neutralize the SkinUSA products which all have a compatible base..

Q. My skin looks worse after 2-3 weeks of using the creams. What is going on?

A. Your original skin problems may appear worse during the first 6 weeks, especially acne, wrinkles, spots, and sun damage. This temporary appearance is part of the skin renewal process. Your skin will look much better when the o1d skin layers are exfoliated and are replaced by new, more tolerant healthy ones.

Q. Can I change from one approach to another?

A. Yes, you can. Changing from an aggressive approach to a milder one is a good idea if your schedule becomes busy or you have a social event coming up. You may also change from a milder approach to a stronger one as your skin tolerance improves.

Q. What makes the SkinUSA products the best program?

A. The SkinUSA program is the result of extensive clinical research and trials. The creams, the lotions, and the cleansers are designed to work in conjunction with one another to produce more effective skin functions. While other programs may act merely on the skin surface, this program works on all skin layers and corrects the problems at the source. The creams may be used together as a group or individually. The record of safety and efficacy is remarkable.

Q. I heard that Retin-A is bad and AHA fruit acids are good. Is that true?

A. No. Retin-A is one of the most beneficial substances to the skin. It is a form of Vitamin A that increases skin collagen and restores healthy skin texture. Retin A is integral to our program because of its superior action. We also use AHA and BHA fruit acids, and our program was the first to do so. Fruit acids help Retin-A penetrate deeper, but fruit acids alone have a very limited value. Any other claims are false.
