Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I smoke, sunbathe, and drink alcohol and coffee:
Which is the worst for my skin?

A. Sunbathing by far is the worst, followed by smoking. Stress, lack of sleep, alcohol and coffee are less important but still damage your skin.

Q. Sunscreens: are higher SPF numbers better?

A. Higher SPF products contain more chemicals than you need with a much higher risk of allergic reactions. All what you need for maximum protection is an SPF of 30 provided the product blocks all kinds of sunrays: UVA, UVB and Infrared. some sunscreens are rendered ineffective in the heat. Click here for important facts about Sunscreens.

Q. Steam, Sauna and hot Jacuzzi…which is the best for my skin?

A. All are bad for your skin. The excessive heat will gradually cook the collagen in your skin making it leathery and old.

Q. What about fruit acids (AHA), Vitamin C and Retinol products?

A. They have a limited ability to correct significant skin problems unless used as part of a much more comprehensive skin rejuvenation program such as the SkinUSA program.

Unlike our products, most cosmetics are designed to be used without professional supervision and hence their formula is minimally effective.

Q. My eyelids are more sensitive to the creams than my face. What should I do?

A. The skin around the eyelid is thin and delicate, therefore more likely to become sensitive, especially during the early stages of the treatment program. This sensitivity will lessen as normal tolerance is restored and more collagen is produced. When sensitivity is severe, you should stop or use less Retin-A and Activia around the eyes. Apply the uplifting eye cream or the Calming Complex for fast relief.

Q. Can I use the creams on my neck and chest?

A. Yes, but precautions should be taken. The skin of the neck and chest is different than that of the face. The cleansing process should not be performed on those areas. You can use Clear Tone lotion daily and the mixture of Retin-A and Activia twice weekly until more tolerance is achieved. Then gradually increase the frequency of application. In these areas feel free to use the moisturizers as often as you like.

Q. Are there any age restrictions with using SkinUSA?

A. No, in fact it is used by adolescents with acne prone skin as well as adults.

Q. Can all races use this product?

A. Yes, SkinUSA is safe for all races, although, everyone should consult a skin care professional for an individualized evaluation.

Q. What type of make-up should I use?

A. SkinUSA strongly recommends the use of a low PH make-up such as Clinique, Prescriptives, or Almay.  Products that contain talc, such as some pressed or loose powders, are to be avoided.
Most powders are available in a talc-free form.

Q. Why do I have to go to a dermatologist, cosmetic or plastic surgeon for this product?

A. Consumers will receive the most beneficial results by visiting a dermatologist, cosmetic or plastic surgeon and receiving a professional skin care program specifically tailored for their skin type.  SkinUSA professional strength products should only be distributed in a medically supervised environment.  Unlike SkinUSA, most over-the-counter products contain a partially neutralized form of glycolic acid that significantly diminishes many beneficial qualities of glycolic acid properties such as skin exfoliating and smoothing.
